RoHS - Restriction of Hazardous Susbstances

The RoHS Directve stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of certain substances.

What are these substances?

These substances are outlined in the European Union Directive 2002/95/EC, Article 4(1) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and are as follows: -
  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Cadmium
  • Hexavalent Chromium
  • Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB's)
  • Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE's)

Are these substances present in PAR products?

No PAR product contains any of the above substances, except our Airspeed range of paints and primers and certain solder products, which both contain lead and/or lead chromates.

According to the Annex Directive 2002/95/EC, lead in the form of 'high melting temperature type solders' is exempt from the above legislation.

Should you buy either one of this range of products from PAR, please contact our sales team to discuss the lead-free alternatives we can offer.
